ONLINE Darning Workshop for Socks and Sweaters
Fix your tattered socks and sweaters with a simple woven type of mending known as darning! This is a live workshop, so you will be able to ask questions and interact with other participants. Bring something to mend, and follow along at home.
In this 2 hour workshop:
-a presentation of common darning materials and how to use them
-an explanation and demonstration of darning techniques: 1) simple sock reinforcement, 2) darning to reinforce and patch, 3) darned surface patch.
**No materials are included with this workshop, though sashiko thread and darning needles are available in my mending supply shop (or any yarn shop), which is what I'll be using to demonstrate.**
Materials needed for this workshop include:
-yarn or thread (embroidery thread, yarn, sashiko thread, perle cotton)
-a mending mushroom, or medium sized glass, citrus, or ball (or of these shapes)
-a sweater or sock to darn
The day before the workshop, I will email you the details, including the Zoom link for the day of class.
