ONLINE Visible Mending for Denim Workshop
Join Erin Eggenburg for an information packed, sashiko inspired visible mending for denim workshop. Sashiko, a beautiful style of Japanese mending is the perfect antidote to ripped and threadbare jeans. You’ll learn and practice a sashiko inspired stitching technique for patching, as a hands-on part of this workshop. This is a great class for beginners and seasoned hand stitchers alike with an interest in how mending can be both functional and beautiful.
This 3-hour workshop includes:
-a presentation of mending materials and how they are used in practice
-a hands-on tutorial to practice and complete a patch, in the sashiko stitching technique.
-an explanation of how to repair specific types of mends (crotch, threadbare, knees)
-an opportunity to ask questions about your specific repair
-denim patch for practice
-sashiko thread and pearl cotton
**For this workshop, you can opt to purchase materials for the workshop for a $10 fee, which will be mailed to you. The workshop kit includes: a denim square, mending transfer, instruction booklet, sashiko needles, beeswax tin, straight pins, safety pin, perle cotton and sashiko thread (1 of each). ***
Several days before class, I will email you all of the details, including what to bring, the link to connect, and a printable outline for the workshop. You will also receive a reminder email a couple of days before class.
Workshops are not recorded, but you are welcome to re-take whenever you'd like for no charge.
