Specialty darning needles for repairing fine knit items. The ball tip helps to keep the fine thread from slipping off the end of the needle.
As a comparison, the needle on the left is used for darning chunky knits, and moving right, more standard size darning needles, to the far right, which is the fine ball tip needle.
